Local Geographic Numbers

Number Information  Many customers only shop locally, making this a difficult market to crack if you're not based in their town. Help is at hand with 'virtual' local telephone numbers, allowing you to advertise a number corresponding to every town you wish to gain enquiries from - even if you're based hundreds of miles away!

How 01 and 02 Local Area Numbers Work

Local area numbers are also called STD Codes or geographic numbers (geos) and we can supply them for every UK town and city. This is a great option for businesses looking to expand but don't want to pay all the costs associated with opening a new office. Or, for organisations operating in markets where customers only trust local suppliers (e.g. tradesmen or taxi firms for example), even if you're based just a few miles away. You could be based in Bristol and grow your customer base by promoting numbers for Bournemouth, Pool and Dorset. In fact, you can have them for every town and city you wish to receive enquiries from. Because our ranges are 'virtual', you don't need to be physically based in the relevant town or city to use them, unlike normal landlines. With fixed line BT 01 and 02 numbers you rarely get the chance to choose your own number. With SwitchConnect, you can choose from thousands of highly memorable numbers, helping customers to easily remember you and stand out from the competition. Our geo numbers are hugely popular– in fact, any businesses wanting a number that's easy to remember and rolls off the tongue.

When a customer dials your 01 or 02 local number, the call is instantly routed to your existing landline or mobile number (referred to as your 'targets'). Conveniently, you can change this target number at any time online using the SwitchINS portal, or if you're not in front of your computer, let us make the changes for you by calling our customer services team. Local numbers can be set up quickly and you don't need to install and maintain any software or hardware.

You can also choose to use a 01/02 number as a Fax to Email line, where faxes are received via your email. This is a great alternative to having a fax machine, which is traditionally expensive what with the on-going maintenance and material costs. What's more, you don't need a physical landline if you choose Fax to Email, again saving you a lot money. You can also terminate your calls utilising our VoIP services, This both reduces our cost but also allows you to use your number for any and all outbound calls.
